The Coach G Academy will consist of coordinated sessions with successful athletes, coaches, and other individuals from all walks of life that have come from similar environments and made incredible accomplishments over the years. While teaching the youth of Madison Parish sports fundamentals, there will also be a strong emphasis on life skills for success. The objective of this 4-day physical activity and educational opportunity is to provide the participants with knowledge about life after high school with a focus on college matriculation, sports skill development sessions from successful instructors, and offer the youth a chance to participate in a productive summer program that will keep them in a positive environment. This program will be a testament to our living legacy Coach Robert “Coach G” Gultery and his work ethic, his devotion, and his success in the community.

The academy will work to improve individual skills with timed drills and practice plans. Encompassed in the daily training regimen, “life coaches” will speak on life situations to prepare the youth for the future. Three objectives that the academy will complete annually is to (1) enrich, empower, and inspire the youth of Madison Parish in the tradition and honor of Coach Robert Gultery, (2) award a scholarship to a senior based on an essay written during the Academy session, and (3) honor a Madison Parish citizen making a difference through their leadership and dedication.

This innovative project will be successful for the youth of Madison Parish for a variety of reasons. Participants will receive advance teaching from instructors outside the norm. This strategy will expand their knowledge by listening to others from their community and successful in their own right. CGA will offer youth an organized platform for them to learn about life situations that will benefit them in the future.
