Maine Maritime Museum volunteers are raffling a model of the USS Constitution, generously donated by a volunteer and museum advocate to help support this program.

Referencing it's 1797 design, this famous ship has been artfully crafted down to size, measuring 39" inches in length from the tip of the bowsprit to the end of the mizzen boom, 28 1/2" high, with a spar width of 13 1/2".

This year's raffle prize comes encased in its own vitrine. Similar new models have been valued up to $1500.

Also included in this historical shrine to our country's oldest commissioned naval warship, is a decorative bookend, made of bronze taken from the actual ship during a 1927 restoration and a newsprint magazine from 1977, chronicling the celebrated history of "Old Ironsides."

With the $5 purchase of a ticket, or 5 for $20, you are not only helping to support our invaluable volunteer program but you may become the owner of this collection of important maritime history.

Museum volunteers will be selling tickets until midnight on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. All proceeds go towards benefiting the Volunteer Program.
