Shelby was diagnosed with High-Risk Precursor B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L.) on April 4th 2013, just days after her 16th birthday.  She then spent 8 days in the hospital for testing & treatment, including surgery to have a port installed and starting chemotherapy.  Along the way she has been hospitalized 9 more times; has had bacterial infections including E-coli and Micrococcus, and yet that smile never fades.  We have been surrounded by love and support and that has been such a huge blessing during this first year of the journey.

She was able to start attending school again March 10th but after a just a week, was hospitalized once more.  You can follow that entire journey on her CaringBridge page. 

We are excited to have partnered with some great charities and ministries during this journey.  We felt this would be a great way to team with them and support them through this fundraiser.  Here's a little information about each charity and idea behind each basket:

  • The first basket is for the foodie and inspired by Shelby's Make-A-Wish® trip in September.  She was able to spend time with Gordon Ramsay and eat in Hell's Kitchen during a taping of an episode.  We can't divulge any details, so take our word for it... It was an amazing experience!  This basket includes a Gordon Ramsay cookbook (with DVD) like the one he gave Shelby, featuring several of his signature dishes and recipes written with the home cook in mind.  To make this basket even more fun, we are including the ingredients for you to make a signature dish - consider it your own personal Mystery Box.  We want to make it fun and easy to make an amazing meal.  Retail value of this basket would be $235.00  For more information on Make A Wish, you can visit their website here.  15% of the proceeds from this basket will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
  • The second basket is ideal for Mothers Day featuring hair and skin care and supports Soul 139.  Soul 139 serves inner-city Charlotte in areas we often take for granted.  A simple haircut before a job interview is out of reach for many unemployed; or a homeless child before their first day of school.  Kat and her team speak life and serve tirelessly to renew and build-up their clients while never charging for their services.  Staying with the theme of Soul 139's mission to rejuvenate, this basket is loaded with great products from Wella, Aveda and more.  Retail value of this basket would be $265.00  For more information on Soul 139, you can visit their website here.  15% of the proceeds from this basket will be donated to Soul 139.
  • The third basket is a spa day in the making and supports Hope Cancer Ministries.   Hope Cancer comes alongside families affected by cancer, helping with so many things like food and housework; to events designed to pamper and indulge patients and the ladies in their lives.  I love this note from their website:  One of the most amazing things to see, is when one of our clients becomes a volunteer and goes on to help others with cancer. A majority of our clients are economically disadvantaged. However, our population served is diverse and includes people with different religious, social, economic and ethnic backgrounds.  This spa-inspired basket is chock full of pampering.  Retail value of this basket would be $225.00.  For more information on Hope Cancer Ministries, you can visit their website here.  15% of the proceeds from this basket will be donated to Hope Cancer Ministries. 
  • The fourth basket is all about fun and girl power and supports In His Steps.  Shelby participated with In His Steps for a couple of years.  During her time with the group, the girls put on a performance at a Relay for Life event about a teen with cancer.  Who would have known years ago that her life would resemble that story.  Donna and the In His Steps group rallied around Shelby from the first day in the hospital and have never stopped.  This basket is group-themed for the lady in your life to share and have fun.  Lots of laughs and smiles await!  Retail value of this basket would be $215.00   For more information on In His Steps, you can visit their website here.  15% of the proceeds from this basket will be donated to In His Steps Dance.

    Basket #3 [Pampering/sweets] Hope Cancer has a great annual event called Indulge with a pampering theme of spa and chocolates. This basket is such a good fit for doing that at home: Body Scrub, Bubble Bath and Salt, Body Lotion, Loafah, Face Mask, Shower body towel and spa slippers, Nail Polish, Candles, Spa-themed cake pops, Spa-themed cookies, Rice Crispy treat pops, and of course... Chocolates! Lots of them.

  • In His Steps basket

    Basket #4 [Girl power/sharing] In His Steps is more than just a dance ministry. It's about enjoying good company in a positive setting. This basket is meant to be shared. The person you give it to can share Dark, Milk, and White Chocolates, Personal Make-Up bags, Hair & Skin care products, and some fantastic lotions. To help with entertaining, we also have Salted Caramel Coffee and Caramel Corn from Beverly Hills. We didn't stop there... How about some great mani/pedi items to really celebrate Girl Power! This is a party waiting to happen.
