We are well aware of health issues facing many of our families across the nation and here at home
in South Carolina, particularly in areas of food inequality and rising medical cost as a result of poor/
inadequate nutrition. Our state continually ranks as one of the top ten worst states in the nation
with health disparities, especially with obesity and diabetes. That is why I am calling on you to
support E.A.T2W.I.N Football (Fun)damental Camp on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
at Charlie W. Johnson Stadium.
E.A.T2W.I.N Football (Fun)damental Camp was created by our own SC native and former NFL
Lineman Langston Moore as a vehicle to help promote and encourage families to understand the
value of healthy choices and healthy living. This one-day camp is free for families and will feature
a variety of activities including
• Preventative medical screenings for Diabetes, Vision, Blood Pressure, and Body Mass Index (BMI)
• Health and wellness discussion groups
• One-on-one nutritional consultations
• Healthy Cooking Tutorials
• Healthy Organic Lunches
• Concussion awareness and proper tackling techniques
• Mentoring breakout sessions
• College campus tours
Health services for the event are provided by South Carolina health professionals. Professional
athletes and community leaders will be in attendance and serve as guest coaches, volunteers, and
speakers.
To improve the quality of life in our communities, we must all work together. This is an opportunity
to educate and encourage we dare not miss. I am therefore asking every person to take action and
support this great event by (1) sponsoring blocks of children and their families to attend this event, (2)
providing transportation where needed, and (3) helping spread the word in your various churches,
communities, and social networks by sharing information about this event online. Pre-registration
is $35.00 and $40.00 day of the event. This cost covers the child and gives his/her parent/guardian
access to the health screenings. NOTE: There is no limit to who in the family can get screened.
