DreamBikes is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, with stores in both Madison and Milwaukee Wisconsin. DreamBikes links youth development with youth employment through bicycle storefronts, bicycle recycling and community involvement. We strategically place used bicycle stores in low-income neighborhoods, providing methods for transportation and a healthy lifestyle for our customers, while training local youth on basic job skills, bicycle repair & maintenance and teamwork.
- 60% of our annual operating budget goes to youth employee salaries,
- DreamBikes has put 65 youth on an entirely different life path since opening in 2008.
- We have prevented over 5,000 bikes from entering the landfill through refurbishment and resale, superbly demonstrating how to recycle-a-bicycle.
- In 2013 alone, DreamBikes has sold almost 700 bicycles in Milwaukee, and close to 1,000 in Madison.
- DreamBikes has given away over 300 bikes to individuals and organizations in need.
- DreamBikes retail storefronts foster youth development and healthy lifestyles. Youth employees have a 96% satisfaction rate with their work, and many of them have started early morning road bike rides, entered cyclocross races and enjoyed mountain biking.
