This year Teton Toyota in Idaho Falls Idaho has graciously donated a 2015 Toyota Tundra to be raffled off at the Civil War football game between the Bonneville Bees and the Hillcrest Knights on October 9th. With the truck being donated, it allows 100% of the proceeds to go to the local schools that sell the tickets.
Discovery Elementary is the largest elementary school in District 93 according to enrollment numbers. We strive as do most schools to provide the best opportunities for learning and growth for the students and families enrolled. The PTO has a few goals this year as far as fundraising and this effort will go a long ways towards reaching those goals. Two of which are listed below...
1. Purchase laptop computers for use in the upper grades. With the growth that is being experienced in the younger grades, we are trying to prepare for the boom that is coming. Sixth and Fifth grades currently have two classes while first grade has 5. With only one computer lab, time will soon be even more limited than already is.
2. Angel Fund for school lunches. Currently there are federal programs available to assist with free school lunch. Unfortunately, there are some children who do not qualify but are also behind on their lunch payments. In previous years, unknown to the PTO, the teachers have been pitching in to cover overdue balances so that no child is embarrassed or ever turned away hungry. Parents and Teachers all have made that promise that no kid will ever be turned away from lunch. We hope to establish an Angel Fund that can accept donations to help cover any of these situations instead of having the teachers pay the fees.
