About the Chef

Born and raised in Charleston, SC, Chef BJ infuses the flavors of the Lowcountry into his cuisine. His cooking pays homage to his Gullah Geechee culture and ancestors, focusing on in-season, locally sourced vegetables and seafood. He infuses the techniques of his ancestors, learned from four years of study in St. Thomas, as well as lessons learned from his grandparents about eating from the land to create fresh interpretations of local dishes. He's focused on helping his community thrive so that the culture may continue to prosper for future generations.
