Friends of the Arts (FOA) is a unique parent and staff organization at Mount Greylock Regional High School (MGRHS) whose mission is to support and promote arts education.  FOA supports the visual and performing arts in multiple ways:

  • Shakespeare & Company residency:  FOA partially funds this annual residency of Shakespeare and Company's Fall Festival of Shakespeare for all Mount Greylock students.  This language-based exploration of a Shakespeare play culminates in a full-scale production performed on the Shakespeare & Company main stage for the public -- a life-affirming and life-changing experience for our students.
  • Food of Love:   Now in it's 10th year, FOA produces an annual cabaret-syle evening at the Williams Inn that provides students with experience in directing, acting, singing and live instrumental performances.
  • Spring Drama Workshop:  This initiative for 7-8th graders explores writing and performing a piece together, giving them ownership over the creative process while building skills, confidence and community.
  • Supporting Mount Greylock Arts Faculty:  FOA supports all productions, special arts events and concerts at the school by coordinating any necessary meals, assisting with technical or publicity needs.
  • Additional Materials Needs:  FOA provides micro-grants to aid in the planning of field trips and purchasing of special supplies for art, music, and english classes.
  • Advocating for the Arts:  The FOA believes in and supports arts in education in all its forms.  The FOA's most passionate concern is for the resolution of the fire code violations which have closed the Mount Greylock auditorium for any future theatrical productions.  We hope to see this resolved so that the Mount Greylock students can once again be performing in their own school for their friends and family.

All of these efforts are supported through independent fund raising campaigns like this raffle.  Tickets can be purchased at this website or in person at the upcoming MGRHS student performance of A Winter’s Tale (performances at Williamstown Elementary School) at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 14th and Saturday, November 15th.  Winners will be notified.

Please help the Friends of the Arts (FOA) raise needed funds for supporting the arts at Mount Greylock Regional HS!
