Drew was born on July 18, 2014, at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.  We made the decision to deliver at the world-class center after prenatal screening discovered Drew had several severe congenital defects.  Suffering from both Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and Complete AV Canal Defect meant Drew would have severe lung and heart issues that would require many surgeries.  The outlook was so bleak that doctors couldn't even give Drew a percentage chance of survival.

After Drew was born, he survived three surgeries in his first five days of life.  He spent the next four months in the NICU recovering and growing while awaiting heart surgery.  On November 11, Drew's AV Canal defect was repaired and appeared to be on his road to recovery.  One week later, Drew's conditioned worsened and had to go back in for a second heart surgery in 13 days.

Drew is still in recovery in the CVICU but getting stronger every day.  Nobody can tell us for certain when Drew will be well enough to go home, but we have faith that day will come.  We appreciate so much the love, support and prayers that you have offered our family during this time.

Sincerely,

Matt, Erika and Drew Moscona
