"We Will Rise Again" Blue Dog Print
George Rodrigue of New Orleans is famous for his renditions of the Blue Dog, a wide-eyed, blue-haired canine inspired by a former studio dog and the myth of the loup-garou, a werewolf-type dog he had heard stores of when he was young. We Will Rise Again depicts the Blue Dog as a symbol of the city of New Orleans rising from the floodwater following Hurricane Katrina. The Rotary gearwheel emblem proudly displayed on the dog's chest was added by Mr. Rodrigue to adapt the original piece to create a Rotary-specific print for the Rotary clubs of Louisiana and Mississippi and their recovery efforts following Katrina.
