OCTOBER UPDATE

Dear Supporters and Friends of Gorkha,

We began as a collective of individuals concerned for the well being of our fellow man. In the aftermath of the Earthquakes of April 25th & May 12th we took the initiative to harness the power of our personal relationships to raise monies for the benefit of the Nepalese whom were and are in need of our help.

We were quite fortunate to raise over $15,000 in the early stages following the Earthquakes that permitted us, collectively, to secure and distribute needed supplies in late June. Following this success and with the generosity of all at KISS Rebreathers we saw this Raffle as an opportunity to further assist, a win/win for both the Dive Community and the beneficiaries, the Nepalese people.

In our desire to move forward and expedite our financial support for Nepal, we did not stop to "formalize" our efforts, a mistake with respect to this specific effort to raise money, specifically the organization of our Raffle, of which you have been kind enough to support. Unfortunately, It has been brought to our attention by the NYS Gaming Commission that we are not an "Authorized Organization" and as such are prohibited from engaging in operating Raffles such as this, to proceed would be in violation of NYS Gaming Law.

As our commitment to raise money for the Nepalese people remains steadfast, and understand many had purchased Raffle tickets to not only further this cause but for the opportunity to "Win" a wonderful Prize, we understand some may prefer a return of their funds, to address this eventuality we have made arrangements with the Raffle "facilitator" to provide for refunds. We ask that those whom would like a refund contact us via email so as we can ensure a prompt refund, for those who may elect that their money be donated to our local NGO, Sambhav Nepal, please be assured that we will provide a full accounting of the monies donated on your behalf and will forward the same to those who have elected to donate to the aid of the Nepali people.

We sincerely apologize, appreciate your understanding and ask that any requests for a refund be made no later than the initial Raffle Close Date.

Who wants to win a KISS Classic Explorer Rebreather and Help a Community?

We have teamed up with KISS Reabreathers, to raffle a KISS Classic Explorer for the Benefit of Helping the Nepalese people, those most affected by the Earthquakes that have rocked their country – All proceeds, every penny raised, will benefit the People of Nepal! We are teaming with a Local NGO, Sambhav Nepal, to ensure all money raised is utilized efficiently and to ensure maximum impact.

The most important current need is relief supplies, which are being provided to the victims by various organizations including Sambhav Nepal and the Nepal government.Once the immediate needs of the Nepali people are served we will transition our focus to the long-term project of rebuilding the schools destroyed by the ‪#‎NepalEarthquake. This project aims to build about 35 earthquake-resistant in the remote villages of Gorkha and provide an opportunity to study and dream big to the children, who are the most-affected victims. The project is an act to repair the damages caused by this disaster to our education system.

Our Beneficiary, Sambhav Nepal, a local government-registered NGO has excellent track record of 8 years of tangible achievements in Gorkha. Sambhav Nepal was active prior to the earthquake in Gorkha and has integrity, local knowledge and local contacts needed to achieve our objective.
