The Cat Empire are proudly in their 4th year as ambassadors for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, an organisation in our home town whose values and actions we passionately support.  With your help we are aiming to raise $25,000 to support their latest innovation, The Food Justice Truck.

THE RAFFLE:

First Prize in the raffle is the original hand painted canvas of the artwork for our new single Qué Será Ahora - a unique piece of The Cat Empire history. It measures 45cm x 45cm and will come signed by all band members. Runner up prizes include an invitation to sound check to meet the band before a show, a custom skateboard deck signed by the band and a copy of all releases on Vinyl signed by the band.

ABOUT THE ASRC FOOD JUSTICE TRUCK:

The idea was borne out of the growing food insecurity felt by Victoria’s asylum seeker community, where many are often denied the right to work, or have limited opportunity to gain employment and provide for their family. The Food Justice Truck is a mobile fresh food market that offers ethically sourced and locally grown fresh produce to all. Groceries are sold to general public at market rates, and to asylum seekers at a 75% discount.



ABOUT THE ASRC:

The ASRC delivers services and support to over 2000 asylum seekers in Melbourne at any one time, including food and material aid, health, housing and legal services, as well as casework and counselling support. The Centre doesn’t take any Federal Government funding – it relies on donations from individuals and organisations for 95 per cent of its funding. The support ASRC receives from the community means they can ensure asylum seekers receive the dignity, respect and compassion they deserve.
