Our much-loved Mikell has been diagnosed with cancer and needs our help.
Mikell knew something was horribly wrong. This past fall, Mikell discovered elevated protein levels in her blood. A bone marrow biopsy was ordered and an oncologist diagnosed Mikell with asymptomatic multiple myeloma. After a lot of further persistence from Mikell, doctors finally ordered more tests, including a pet scan which showed a cancer tumor in her shoulder.
Mikell has now received a second diagnoses of plasmacytoma, a rare blood cancer.
Mikell and Alan decided to seek immediate care in Tijuana. Currently, Mikell is receiving daily IV infusions, low dose chemotherapy and other treatments. They will be In Tijuana for 3 weeks, then Mikell will continue her treatments and IV infusions at home for an additional 7 weeks.
Mikell is relying heavily on the love and support of God and her friends and family.
