We've been busy at PapAdopters. We are only halfway thru 2015 and we have taken in 32 dogs and found forever homes for 25. Papadopters started the year with taking in the remaining six Hazelbaker papillons destined to be auctioned off to puppy mills. Since that time we have taken in several dogs from owners who have either passed away or who could no longer provide for their care. We have also taken in several shelter dogs in horrendous condition and have been given a new lease on life. Papadopters does not discriminate when accepting new dogs. We take in the young and healthy as well as the old and sick.
Some of Papadopters 2015 memorable intakes thus far include:
The Missouri Six- The remaining Hazelbaker papillons up for auction.
Sparky - Sparky came to us from an on-line breeder due to behavioral problems. Sparky was covered in sores from flea dermatitis and had extensive dental disease. His foster mom was able to get his skin healed and he received an extensive dental with having 17 teeth extracted. Sparky is now a happy boy.
Dusty- our little Amarillo Texas boy found in a dead animal drop box at a high kill animal control center. This little guy spent a horrific night in a box with dead dogs. His first foster mom drove several hours to pick him up and saw that he received his medical work-up that included a dental with three of his teeth being removed.
Kira- our current 10 year old foster who found herself at an animal shelter due to a flea infestation. Kira had many skin sores from the flea infestation but also had multiple mammary tumors that needed removed for comfort and survival. Kira's first surgery was very successful and her doctor is very optimistic with her outcome. Kira's next surgery is set for the first week of July
Cotton- a current senior foster who was found abandoned in a vacant apartment in deplorable condition. This little guy was found in rough shape and is waiting a dental where he most likely will lose all of his remaining teeth.
Shelby- a current senior foster who was found by animal control wandering the streets. Shelby's nails where so long that this little girl had trouble walking. Her vision is significantly limited due to bilateral cataracts. Her coat is in extremely poor condition and her mouth was so severe that she needed an immediate antibiotic for relief.
Zoey, Soldier, Sailor and Spy- Zoey, not quite a year old herself and her three two week old puppies were advertised on Craigslist. Their owner who was overwhelmed was also willing to get rid the puppies separate of their mom. Surely, these puppies would most likely not have survived when separated so early. Zoey and the boys are currently under foster care and are doing exceedingly well.
