First thing is first! We are over halfway through our restoration of the S/V Goldeneye.

In order to help offset some of the enormous costs associated with restoring a large vessel. We have partnered up with SeaBags and they took one of Goldeneye's sails to make this amazing Large Tote for us to raffle off.

The funds raised will help cover the cost of moving her to a new location so we can finish her up and get her into the water by next spring.

The Maine Fallen Heroes Foundation has begun restoration of the S/V Goldeneye.
She was once owned by Maine Maritime Academy and is one of Maine's most historic sail boats!

Once restored, she will be used by 95 families of our fallen heroes since 9/11
and our wounded warriors from the State of Maine.

Goldeneye is a 45 foot long wooden sloop handcrafted in 1981 by Lee’s Boat Shop in Rockland, Maine.

Ãistein “Lee” Lie-Nielsen (the guy who built this sailboat) was originally form Norway
and he was also a United States Marine Corps Veteran. Read more here >>

Thomas Godfrey of Vinalhaven was the fellow who orginally had the boat built by Henry Scheel. Thomas
is a Navy Veteran who was on one of the lead escort ships in the Battle of Palermo, Italy in World War II.

She was donated to the families of our fallen by U.S. Army Veteran Manley Yates. He called her Goldie!

She is an old boat that will need a bit of work before she goes back in the water. She was last in the water in 2010.

She came to us with a 65' carbon fiber mast, aluminum boom, sails, bimini top, marine radio, depth finder and brass bell (which has already made it's way to the top of Owl Mountain over the 2015 Memorial Day weekend with The Summit Project!

All she needs now is some restoration work and she’ll be back in the ocean again serving the families of our fallen.

“Put people together on a boat and get them out on the ocean.
I guarantee that they will learn more about each other!”

Dean Barron
