A Liquid Future is a grassroots non-profit organisation providing free empowerment programmes to strive for balance between locals, the environment and growing surf tourism in isolated island communities, responding to THEIR wants and needs.

We provide free empowerment programmes in English, environmental awareness and surfing and swimming.  Through these programmes locals will gain vital skills enabling them to play THEIR part in the region’s development, shaping its future, for the benefit of locals, tourists and the environment alike.

All our activities are endorsed and supported by the Mentawai Ministry of Education and Tourism respectively.

We have 150 plus local students aged 6 to 56 attending programmes 5 days a week in General English, English + Surf Vocation, English for Work, English for Academic Purposes.

Girls' Surfing, Swimming and Ocean Awareness Programme comprising 15 students aged 12 to 30.  The course enables girls who wish to gain an understanding and knowledge of the ocean environment to come together.  The rise in their self-esteem, confidence and affinity with the ocean is wonderful to see.  They are also natural caretakers of the environments they operate in.

Conservation project “Anak Pantai” (Children of the Beach) comprising of 12 local youths aged 16 to 27 years old who are all surfers and are passionate about the health of their local beach and breaks. They lead by example, cleaning up the beach, educating within the community, handing out information and campaigning for a better infrastructure.

Ongoing collaboration with the non-profit organsiation Waves For Water to bring clean drinking water via water filters and rain water tanks to the communities of Mapadegat and Pukayarat.

Ongoing collaboration with the non-profit Beyond the Surface International and their acclaimed project Coast2Coast using cameras and art to create awareness amongst youth about issues such as environmental pollution and sourcing an individual/community based solution.

Our Collaboration Centre is a school of survival on how to face challenges. It is a school teaching the locals how to survive in this changing world. The best way to face challenges is to use collaborative knowledge as a tool to adapt for the better.

The only thing in the Mentawai better than the waves is the people. So come join the flow. The future is liquid.
