At Canberra Lost Pet Database we are more than just a facebook page for lost & found pets.

In addition to running the facebook page our volunteer team spends considerable time and money also:

• Retrieving deceased cats and dogs (over 50 deceased cats picked up in last year and several dogs)
• Coming out to catch dogs, rabbits, pigeons and other animals.
• Attending to found dogs and scanning them for microchips
• Acting as a pet taxi and transporting found dogs or other animals to vets/RSPCA/pound when the finder is unable to do so
• Lending out cat & dog traps 
• Catching long term missing dogs
  

These activities can sometimes be quite costly. For example in catching a maremma sheepdog that had been roaming near Bungendore for a month we spent over $50 over a week in just bacon and bbq chicken to try and entice her into the trap! Picking up deceased animals we go through quite a lot of old towels, bin bags and latex gloves which can add up.

In addition there are administrative costs such as public liability insurance, domain name registration, and costs associated with printing information leaflets, and lost pet flyers. 

To continue to be able to run these services for free we need to raise some money to cover costs.
