In 2012 Safety and Security Professional Stephen John Piercy realised that although several UAV platforms were being used worldwide in Search, Rescue and Crisis Management sceanrios none of them had specifically been designed for such a purpose. They were mostly off the shelf systems with enhanced imaging technology bolted on to them.
Looking at the specifications some of these systems had Piercy decided that there would be countless advantages if there were to be a specifically designed Search and Rescue UAV system...
...UASAR 1 was born
Throughout the last 18 months Stephen has slowly but surely been designing each and every aspect of UASAR 1. From Airframe design to flight controller, groundstation to imaging technology. Each and every aspect designed with Search and Rescue in mind.
Why UASAR 1?
Tornadoes, Avalanche, Flooding, Missing Person, Abduction/Kidnap, Fire. Emergency response agencies all over the world are expected to deal with all this and more. They rely on the technology they have at hand to assist them to save lives. The relatively few services that use UAV technology achieve great results with it but imagine what they would all achieve if...
... It was more affordable and therefore more accessible to groups no matter how big or small.
... It was custom designed for Search and Rescue and not just retrofitted with imaging gear.
UASAR 1 offers all of this.
Where we are now...
Right now, the UASAR 1 project is ready to begin construction and testing phases. Most elements have been thought out and designed and all that remains now is to construct test and evaluate all aspects. Any that do not meet the grade will be redesigned and rebuilt as required. We are far from a finished product but we are ready to fine tune the components so they are perfect fit and compliment the other systems in use. It is estimated that all going well we should have a finished product by the end of 2014 at which point emergency response groups will have access to potentially the world's first custom designed Search and Rescue UAV platform at a fraction of the cost of current systems in use.
Please help us get UASAR 1 off the ground by purchasing raffle tickets. By doing so you will be contributing greatly to the project and helping emergency responders throughout the world by helping to provide vital equipment that will assist them in the rescue of many people.
