For the first time in the city of Knightdale’s history, a football team – the Knightdale Dragons’ Jr. Pee Wee DIII team – has earned its way to compete on a national level. While this is an exciting opportunity for the young men, the expenses associated have presented challenges for the association.
The Knightdale Dragons Pop Warner Association is a grassroots youth sports organization founded in 2012 by parents and coaches who wanted to see the surrounding communities unified in supporting positive youth development. The organization is 100% volunteer operated and dedicated to providing a sports program that fosters the importance of academic achievement, healthy lifestyles, good character, sportsmanship, community involvement, and a family atmosphere. The Knightdale Dragons’ Jr. Pee Wee team consists of 32 rostered members – 24 football players, 6 coaches, and 2 staff members. The team ended their regular season winning 7 games, with only 1 loss to a DI team by 1 point, in the last minute of the game. After gaining the CFF JPW DIII Champions title, their eyes are now set on being named the National Pop Warner JPW DIII Champions...with your help.
