    For this SMU (Special Make Up) project we wanted to use the best raw materials, with a operationally proven track record, and pair them with the best features from our ‘back catalogue’ of Arc’teryx Outdoor duffle packs.  We chose the excellent 500D Cordura MultiCam material that’s Polyurethane coated on both sides making it seriously robust and water resistant, yet lightweight and flexible.

The Prizes

  • Duffle Pack 50 Production Bag # 1

    The Duffle Pack 50 is a lightweight yet extremely durable and water-resistant 50L duffle pack for land, air and maritime deployments. All seams are sealed and the weather flap over the zipper makes it highly resistant to rain, meaning the duffle can sit on wet ground or the deck of a boat without wetting the contents. Fully adjustable and padded shoulder straps allow for adjustment on the move and they can be pulled tight to the pack to reduce entanglement when being transported in a vehicle. There are additional robust grab handles on all four sides of the duffle, making it easy to manoeuvre and tie down. The reflective white interior makes it easier to organize equipment in tactical and low light conditions, and the subtle branding does not belie the MultiCam® colourway.

  • Duffle Pack 50 PROTOTYPE # 1

    For our initial trial design featured an extra wide zipper opening, removable shoulder straps and loops to stow the loose webbing ends. It was based on the 2016 Outdoor model and features removable straps and loops to stow the loose webbing ends.

  • Duffle Pack 50 PROTOTYPE # 2

    Arc'teryx then trialed a different design that has a different zipper opening that is slightly smaller and less bulky.  We also went for a cleaner looking shoulder strap design that is more streamlined and lighter.  In addition to this, our Design Centre in Vancouver used a large bright red ‘bird’ heat transfer centered over the zipper and they used black webbing straps as this was the materials they had to hand, rather than for aesthetic reasons.  Apart from a more subtle color and size heat transfer and webbing strap colour, Proto 2 is identical to the bulk production units that US Elite have kindly donated for the raffle.

    THE SECOND PROTOTYPE THAT WAS MADE! THIS MODEL HAS THE BIG RED BIRD ON THE ZIPPER AREA. IT IS THE ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD WITH THIS LOGO EMBELLISHMENT!
