Junior Journalists of America (JJA) is pleased to present it's 1st Annual Valentine's Day Fundraiser, brought to you by The Personnel Shop, supporting youth through journalism. To provide students with the skills to create their own magazine by teaching them how to be:
Journalists, Correspondents, Writers, Editors, Member of the Press, Reporters, Photographers, Orators, Conversationalists, Raconteurs, Columnists, Commentators, and Videographers by creating both an online and hard copy publication. Proceeds from magazine sales will be allocated to the School District.
Young people represent the next generation of journalists. When our youth learn the fundamentals of journalism, it gives them a platform to vocalize how issues affect their generation. They will gain insight on topics they recount and explore. Youth media will be reported in their very own magazine, which will be publicized, published and made available online. The online publication will be furnished with articles, live video interviews, and fun interactive educational activities for everyone to enjoy.
Junior Journalists of America will:
- Learn how to contact the proper liaison regarding information about events, facts, ideas, and people
- Learn the fundamentals of collecting, editing, and presenting images as a Photojournalist
- They will learn how to be a Professional Writer, learning the basics of professional writing such as, persuasion, information, and entertainment
- Students will gain essential knowledge of how to contribute reports as a live correspondent
- Students will learn how to operate a digital camera and video camera
- Learn how to build a website that will feature the magazine
- They will understand the principles of Professional and Ethical Standards, Confidentiality of Sources, the Role of a Journalist, and how to properly site references
