On any given night in Australia, 48,000 women have no home to go to. Family violence is the number one reason people present to homelessness services, and 55% of women who present, cite family violence as the reason.
Share the Dignity is an organisation rising to the challenge of assisting women in these difficult circumstances. Their mission is "To ensure that everyone is afforded the dignity in life that many of us take for granted."
Share the Dignity run dignity drives seeking donations of sanitary pads and tampons in April and August to prevent women having to make the choice between purchasing food or sanity items. They raise money to help with the cost of funerals for victims of family violence. Their "Its in the Bag" campaign ready for Christmas provides women in difficult circumstances across the country with bags full of essential goodies that they can't afford themselves. In 2016, over 100,000 bags and items were assembled and donated by Sheroes and Heroes across the country. Share the Dignity run "DigniTeas" high-teas, "#IStandUp" Comedy nights and "YogaForAll" events to raise awareness and money for their cause. Activities4All provides extracurricular activities for kids who are being supported through the process of recovery from long term exposure to family violence. Their newest initiative is the sale of their "Handbags with Heart".
This is great cause dedicated to supporting the most vulnerable women in our community. Please help us raise money to help #sharethedignity.
