Hello. My name is Georgina Baba with St. George Orthodox Church here in Houston, TX. Each year we have an Annual Christmas Party for various Child Protective Service Shelters throughout the city with approximately 100 teenagers. Some kids are usually happy to be there and some are not. 

We provide them with a $50 Walmart Gift Card, a goodie bag filled with toiletries, bible, etc and dinner with dessert. When planning for this evening; I like to make it a party with music and fun! It's a time for siblings whom have been separated into two different shelters to be united for a few hours. Last year, we had a brother & sister that had not seen each other in months until that evening!! That made my heart so happy to be able to see them together and introducing each other to one another's friends!!        

We also get someone to come speak to them for about 15minutes; a motivational speaker. Someone that has either been in CPS themselves and or experienced rough times growing up. Last years’ speaker was a success! We had former WNBA player, Chantelle Anderson. She generously volunteered her time and was able to tell her story to everyone there. Her story about her child hood and how she attempted suicide a couple of times. She welcomed anyone there to go up to her afterwards and speak to her if they wanted. Three different people went up to her and thanked her for sharing her story with them and that they had attempted suicide themselves but now she had given them hope.

I've attached pictures from a previous year to show you where your donations for this fundraiser are going to. The year of the pictures, we had a karaoke theme so they could sing and dance and simply have fun and take away their cares for a few hours.

Our goal for this event is to make a difference for AT LEAST one person. If we can do that; then it's a successful night! This evening is not possible without the generosity of those such as yourself.
