Many revolutionary women have inspired me throughout my life. From Cleopatra to Gloria Steinem; Frida Kahlo to Malala Yousafzai; Josephine Baker to Dolores Huerta; Madonna to Eleanor Roosevelt; and many more! They are the trailblazers, activists, advocates, and artists who paved the way for me and countless others. March 8th is International Women's Day, and in celebration I would like to raffle off my mixed media art piece "¡Ser Mujer as Revoluciónario!" and donate 100% of the proceeds to various organizations that continue to empower, develop, and support the next generation of revolutionary women! They include: Girls Inc., Black Lives Matter, MISSSEY, National Domestic Workers Alliance, and Transgender Law Center. My goal is to raise at least $1000.
About the piece: The Statue of Liberty stands with her fist held high, ready to resist anything that goes against what she represents: an immigrant woman fighting for liberty and all that is good about the United States. Her body composed of various images of women and girls from different countries; all beautiful, all unique. Behind her, a revolutionary flag, adorned with the 13 stars that not only represent the first colonies of the U.S., but also the Divine/Sacred Feminine. She is a celebration of feminine power, of diversity, of resistance & revolution!
The winner of the raffle (ending April 8th) will win the art piece, measuring 26 3/4" x 50 1/2" x 1 1/4". The piece is located in Oakland & available for pick up. PLEASE NOTE: if needed, winner will need to coordinate delivery.
