Each year cancer takes too many lives. For those that beat cancer the struggle is a difficult and emotional journey.
The Dana Farber Cancer Institute has developed countless treatments, medications, and ways to make battling Cancer better. Make no mistake, cancer sucks, but through their research efforts and the $500 million dollars raised and donated by the PMC since 1980, countless family, friends, and work colleagues have benefited from their work.
My name is Craig Taylor. I'm riding in my 6th Pan Mass Challenge on the Boston Bruins Foundation team. This year I'm very excited to have my son Matt Taylor joining me on the BBF team, to join me in hosting a High School division in our 3-on-3 hockey tournament, to join me on training rides, and in this fund raising effort. I'm very proud to have him along "for the ride"!
Each rider in the PMC commits to raising a minimum of $5000 for cancer when they commit to ride. The bulk of my fund-raising comes from this raffle and the 3-on-3 hockey tournament. This Raffle ends at 3pm on Sat. May 18th to coincide with the end of the 3-on-3 hockey tournament. This online fund-raising was the brain-child of one of my volunteer referees (lets call him Tom). He and the dozens of other volunteers is what makes me comfortable riding each year. Tom suggested we see what social media could do to raise more funds in an online raffle. So here we are! Last year we blew past my fund-raising goal of $10,000 and raised a total of $14,000! This year, we're setting our sights higher at $16,000 in fund-raising. It's a tough climb, but Matt and I can do it!
Please share this Auction on your Social media... there will never be a better chance to win 1 of 5 (YES, I SAID 5) Autographed NHL Bruins Jerseys. I'm writing this post the day after they won Round 2 of the 2019 playoffs!
Please have a look at the awesome Jersey's we have below. The Marchand and McAvoy come with a Certificate of Authenticity. The O'Reilly, Bucyk, and Krecji will come with a photo of them signing the jersey as a favor to my tournament. Please share far and wide and buy lots of tickets!
UPDATE #1: Because the Bruins are doing so well in the playoffs, Krejci cannot SIGN his jersey until later this year. I can get the Jersey Sign, but not by the 18th of May. Johnny Bucyk explained this is NHL tradition - no signatures of any kind during Playoffs... even back in the 60's and 70's when he played.
UPDATE #2: Check out the Bucyk signatures and the photo of him SIGNING on his 84th Birthday yesterday at him home pre-game!
Sincerely, Craig & Matt
The Prizes
Brad Marchand Autographed Jersey
Brad Marchand was a man of few words last night. The interviewer had asked him during their last interview whether he had to "Sharpen his skates" after the stick skate incident in game 2. Thus his brief words this go round... With this auction you have an opportunity to win a Genuine Autographed Brad Marchand autographed #63 jersey. A piece of history for this playoff season. But, check out the signature, his signature reflects his words last night... brief and short.
Charlie McAvoy Autographed Genuine NHL Jersey
From the moment Charlie stepped onto the ice last year in the playoffs he looked ready for the NHL. This year he's learned to balance his playing with supporting the big Man Chara. Charlie can do it all - playing his right D while also helping bail Chara out in some circumstances. IN the offensive zone, he's smart enough to know when to pinch and when to back off the Blue line. Get another piece of amazing NHL History as the Bruins track to Round 3 with this McAVoy autographed Jersey #73.
David Krejci
When you look at depth charts for NHL teams they often have a premier Center or two but rarely 4 full lines of strong face off men. Krejci on any other team would be that Premier Center, but he had to play with Bergeron sometimes stealing the spot light. Having said that, many games this post-season have been the David Krejci show... currently at the end of two rounds he has 4 goals and 6 assists for 10 points and is +2 across two series. Get a piece of history with this Autographed Jersey (Autograph is in process I promise). We'll get a picture of David with the Jersey as evidence for you all.
Johnny Bucyk Autographed Jersey
Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1982, Johnny Bucyk finished his NHL career having played in 1,540, scoring 556 goals, assisting on 813 goals and amassing 1369 points across his 22 year career all with the Bruins (except for his first two seasons with Detroit). With his signature on this jersey, you'll be the coolest Bruins Fan to enter the Gardens in some time!
Terry O'Reilly Autographed Jersey
Across 13 seasons, Terry O'Reilly played in 891 games amassing 204 goals, 402 assists, and 606 points over all. What strikes me as an amazing fact is his +222 and 2095 penalty minutes. When Terry O'Reilly was on the ice, opponents focused more on protecting themselves than scoring points and when something bad happened, and inevitably it did in these clutch and grab NHL years, Terry was there to straighten anyone and everyone out... one time even the Fans had to answer if you remember that famous night. Knowing Terry personally, he is one of the nightest, most kind-hearted, and generous people I've ever had the privilege of skating with! He's truely a gentleman and he's always willing to reach out to help someone in need. Enter this raffle for an opportunity to win an autographed piece of History and be proud entering the Gardens forever more! The Signature will be secured before we provide this jersey to you. We'll update the post when we have his Autograph.
