Raquel and Melisa invite you to raise money for our Resilience Fund through a raffle. In these extraordinary times, we believe it’s more important than ever to provide community-centered solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing our global citizenry: poverty, inequality, and systemic injustice.
As a collective cohort of twelve women from Guatemala, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and the United States, we have joined together to support twelve organizations in Guatemala, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Ghana. These community-led organizations need our support to fund emergency responses to the Coronavirus, a pandemic that has affected the entire globe, but some people in disadvantaged communities are experiencing the crisis more than others.
Raquel y Melisa are working directly with Tejiendo Futuros, a organization in Panajachel, in the Lake District of Guatemala. Tejiendo Futuros normally operates as a school and organizes other social endeavors related to cultivating a productive and resilient community of learners. Currently, they are
- supporting 46 families with groceries as many parents are currently unable to work
- generating educational materials so that students can study at home
- offering emotional and psychological support for families that have suffered domestic violence
- planting community and family gardens.
We acknowledge the value of artisan work as well as the businesses that support community-led and community-run business so we have selected a couple of prizes that reflect this.
Please participate in the raffle and enter to win a great prize for a good cause!! At the end of the raffle we will pick two names. The first name drawn will receive the first prize and the second name will receive the second prize:
1st Prize: Guatemalan Tablecloth
2nd Prize: 2 lbs. of Organic Fair Trade Coffee
