This raffle is to raise money for the operation of The Fairytale Project. The Fairytale Project is a non-profit organization that uses characters to brings smiles, joy, hope and encouragement to children and adults facing difficult circumstances. A great deal of effort and cost goes into being a Fairytale Project character; the high-quality costumes, wigs and accessories can cost $1,000 or more, and it takes time to learn how to play the characters well.
History of the organization: Anniston native Chassidy Casey moved to Birmingham a few years ago and was recruited by a local party business to play "Elsa" at children's birthday parties due to her white blonde hair and pretty face. Chassidy's kind heartstarted her wondering how to bring that kind of joy to other children who really needed it - for free. The Ronald McDonald House was the first to embrace her idea by holding a Frozen party with princess makeovers, royalty lessons, karaoke, fake snowballs for a snowball fight and a game of freeze tag. This allowed the children to escape from their world of sickness and experience a moment of a fairytale come to life. A few months later, Casey had a total of eight princesses in her arsenal of joy: Elsa, Anna, Cinderella, Jasmine, Belle, Ariel, Snow White and Rapunzel. Each participant provided their own costume, and after partnering with several other organizations, including United Cerebral Palsy, DHR, The ARC, Rainbow Omega and Children’s Hospital, “The Fairytale Project” was officially born.
