The Barrow County Sheriff's Office K9 unit has been sponsored by Akins Ford of Winder for a summer raffle of a YETI Tundra 35 Cooler. The raffle proceeds will go directly to the K9 Unit for supplies and equipment needed to maintain and care for the K9s. The Sheriff's Office currently has two K9s assigned to the unit K9 Dax a Four year old German Shepard handled by Deputy Mike Stiles and K9 Ares a 3 year old Belgian Malinois handled by Deputy Drew Akins. The K9s live full time with their handlers and are with them on every shift covering the citizens of not only Barrow County but also other jurisdictions within and around Barrow County. The K9 unit uses the funds raised to buy equipment for training and basic needs for the K9s. The K9 Unit would like to recognize Akins Ford which has been a great supporter of the K9 unit and also the County and Sheriff's Office as a whole. The raffle will run until the Sheriff's Office spring employee event on April 13th. The drawing for the winner will happen at the event and you do not have to be present to win. This is a nation-wide raffle the winner if not local will provide a shipping address and the K9 unit will have the cooler shipped to the winner at no cost. We thank you for your support of the Barrow County Sheriff's Office and the K9 Unit.
