My daughter, Erica, was recently nominated as a candidate for the Washington DC region's Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) Man and Woman of the Year (MWOY).  There are a total of 26 DC region MWOY candidates and their goal is to raise $2.5 million to fight blood cancers during a 10-week campaign which culminates with a Gala event on June 1.  As a nominee, Erica has assembled an ambitious team of family and friends to help in this quest.

LLS does so much to support the fight against blood cancers.  In fact, without LLS-supported research, Erica may well not be with us today.  She is a blood cancer survivor and 2019 marks her 10th year in remission.  Unfortunately, not enough people get to celebrate the same milestone – 1 in 3 blood cancer patients lose their battle against this illness.

I hope you will support our funding raising efforts by purchasing one or more raffle tickets.  Proceeds, net of transaction processing fees, will benefit LLS.

To read more about Erica’s journey, from a father’s perspective, please take a few minutes from your busy schedule to visit my personal fundraising page by clicking https://pages.mwoy.org/nca/dcmetro19/jcalysssm.

If you want to join the fight beyond our raffle, you can make a donation to this very worthy cause at the website above.   It’s tax deductible and simple…just click the DONATE NOW button on the right side of my web page.

Thank you for support LLS in the fight to end blood cancers.

The Prize

  • 2010 Harlan Estate Red Wine

From The Wine Advocate, December 27, 2012:

Layers of dark fruit, new leather, mocha, espresso, graphite and licorice are woven together in a beguiling exotic tapestry in the 2010 Proprietary Blend Harlan Estate. Seamless and pure, yet backed up by serious tannins, the 2010 wraps around the palate with intense depth and pure resonance in every direction. Hints of graphite and pencil shavings linger on the palate-staining finish. This is a great, great showing from Harlan Estate.  (Reviewed by Robert M. Parker, Jr.)

Delivery/shipping will be provided at no cost to the winner.
