This year we are supporting the Louisiana Lions Camp, which suffered significant damage to several structures during Hurricane Laura. Louisiana Lions Camp is a nonprofit residential summer camp for youth of Louisiana with respiratory disorders, special needs, juvenile diabetes, and childhood cancer. These programs are provided to the campers at NO charge by the Lions Clubs of Louisiana.
Those of you who know us, know that we have two Type 1 diabetic warriors, Jackson (13), diagnosed at 4 years old, and Madelyn (9), diagnosed at 3 years old. This camp changes these children's DNA, normalizes their experience of their diseases, and helps them create lifelong friendships. The Thanksgiving after Jackson's first year of diabetes camp, we wore stickers with what we were thankful for. Jackson's sticker read "I am thankful for diabetes camp."
