Our friend Alejandro had a serious accident while competing in thethe US Open of Paragliding in Chelan on July 11, 2019.  As a result of hitting a dust devil while coming in for a landing he has a compound fracture of his Tib/Fib and a broken back.

Alejandro is a great pilot, paragliding instructor, husband and father.  He move to the United States a few years ago to leave the oppressive government of Venezuela  and is living here under refugee status.  This has made it very difficult for the family over the years.

Alejandro has an infectious smile and is always willing to help everyone in their flying and enjoying the beautiful sport of paragliding.

The treatment for Ale's injuries is going to be extremely expensive and take a long time for his recovery.

Please help us raise funds to help them cover their medical expenses and help with living expenses during this trying time for this wonderful family.

Cal Breed a extremely talented professional artist and paraglider pilot has donated a beautiful sculpture he calls “Top of Lift”.    Cal has crafted a beautiful piece with a single paraglider thermaling up to cloud base.  This symbolizes the hope we have for our friend Ale to see him soaring with us all again.

In addition George Huffman has contributed the coolest "Rocket Ship" lamp kit.  George is a paragliding instructor and great "out of the box" thinker.  He's devoted to following his life passion and helping others achieve their dreams too.  He is a good friend of our parafamily here in Tennessee and we greatly appreciate his contribution.

In addition Flying Camp is contributing a tandem with one of their tandem pilots who are all great friends of Alejandro and huge part of the family.

We are looking for additional contributions to add to this raffle.  The price of $25 is an easy contribution to make and the prizes are amazing.  for additional information contact me Jeff Sinason [email protected]

The Prizes

  • Top of Lift by Cal Breed

Cal Breed, a professional artist from Alabama, has focused on glass as a material for expression functionally and sculpturally for 25 years.  During this time, nature and his immersion and observations of it through the world of climbing, paddling and trail running, have informed much of his artwork with color and textures and, ultimately provided a host of imagery for metaphorical expression.  Having dreamed of free flight since a child after holding an umbrella in a strong wind, he sought an instructor in paragliding.  Concurrently, with an invitation of a solo exhibition of his art at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art, learning free flight through paragliding would serve as a great inspiration for the sculpture he wanted to create.  Cal was able to learn to paraglide in 2019 at Flying Camp in the Sequatchie Valley around Dunlap, Tennessee.  Alejandro Albornoz spent many amazing hours on the hill with Cal sharing his wisdom of flight and his warm friendship.
