Flight Club 502 is a non-profit 501 (c)(3), based out of Bowman Field (KLOU), Louisville, KY. It is dedicated to teaching teens about leadership and success through realistic goal setting in aviation and through Next Gen/STEM education.

The organization was established in 2015 by a group of high schoolers who wanted to inspire other students to succeed while incorporating aviation and STEM subjects as a springboard for that success. Flight Club 502 is owned and operated by youth members with professional adult supervision.

Our outreach spans 117 zip codes across Kentucky and Southern Indiana area, and have provided outreach to 11,060 youth since 2015, and counting We have had over 750 youth members, 351 kids soloed, 239 Private Pilot Licenses, 9 Instrument ratings, and counting! In the past 12 months we offered programming to 4,121  youth outside our organization! In 2019, we built an RV-12 that was flown to Oshkosh in a UPS 747 aircraft to be displayed!

We started building our Carbon Cub EX-3 in 2025, committing to a hands-on project from the ground up. More than 100 youth and over 25 adult volunteers are working side by side to build this aircraft from the ground up, learning, mentoring, and building the future of aviation together.

Our Past Raffle Winners!

Winter 2025
In November 2025, we raffled off our Cherokee 180, and this winner chose to take the aircraft home. Just days before Christmas, he and one of our CFIs, Jonas Gordon, flew the Cherokee all the way to California! Seeing this aircraft begin its next chapter in such a meaningful way was the perfect way to close out the year.

Summer 2025
In July 2025, we raffled off this reimagined and restored Cessna 172N Skyhawk. Our lucky winners, Keith Krumwiede and his wife, flew into Louisville in their own aircraft to visit Flight Club 502 in person. After careful consideration, they chose the cash prize to put toward upgrades for their current airplane. Both have had exceptional careers in aviation, and we loved getting to celebrate this moment with them. To learn more, be sure to watch their interview by
