"Take It Away" is a 501 C3 non profit organization based in Pittsboro NC. Our mission is to make a positive impact in the lives of those affected by cystic fibrosis by raising awareness, rallying community involvement, and monetarily supporting the work of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The inspiration for this organization starts with 2 little girls who were born with this life-threatening, progressive, and incurable disease.
From the outside, they look like two ordinary children who love to play, imagine and explore the world around them. But what you can't see from the exterior is how rare they really are. You can't see the hundreds of pills they take every week or the hours of lung therapy they do every day to stay as healthy as possible. You also can't see the way this disease impacts multiple systems in their bodies, the limited life expectancy or risk of advanced lung disease that lies ahead.
We are so passionate about this cause not only because of our love for these two sisters but also because we whole-heartedly believe in what the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has done and is continuing to do for the 30,000 other American's who are also living with this terrible disease. For decades, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has provided physical and financial support for research and has literally helped change the face of this disease. Because of their tireless commitment to uncover new therapies to treat all facets of CF, the life expectancy has risen from preschool age to 40 within the past 65 years since the organization was founded.
Because CF is a rare disease, there is no federal funding for research targeted at finding new treatments or a CURE. Rather, this costly and vital research depends solely on individual fundraising campaigns like this one. Even though great strides have been made and people with CF are living longer than ever before, far too many lives are still limited and cut short due to the damage of this devastating disease.
