The Africa School Assistance Project is raffling off REI gift cards to raise money for schools in Tanzania.  The grand prize is $5000 in REI gift cards, second place is $1000, and third place is $500.

The Africa School Assistance Project (ASAP) is a Colorado non-profit that for ten years has been committed to increasing access to quality public education in Tanzania, especially for girls. Why?  Because education, more than any other sector of development, seeds dramatic improvement in poverty reduction, gender equality, health outcomes, child immunization, HIV/AIDS prevention, environmental protection and wildlife conservation. Simply put, widely available public education will lead to a prosperous, peaceful and sustainable future for Tanzania.

The Raffle details:
  • There will be a maximum of 5000 tickets sold at $10 apiece.  
  • We use Stripe, a secure online payment system to process the payments.  Stripe will charge you 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.  So if you buy one ticket for $10, there is a 59 cent service charge.  If you buy five tickets for $50, there will be a $1.75 service charge.  (Note that the payment screen will only show the cost of the tickets and not the processing fee, but the processing fee will be added to the charge and will appear on your credit card statement.)
  • The winning raffle tickets will be selected during a live online event on December 3rd, 2020, at 6:30 pm.   Please join our live event by registering here!
    • Colorado state law also requires that raffle ticket purchasers be provided the option of attending the raffle drawing live and in-person.  Thus, ASAP will have a live in-person event for the raffle drawing at 1719 Olive Street, Denver, Colorado, 80220 for those wishing to attend in person.
  • Winners do not need to be present either virtually at the online event or at the in-person event to win.  
  • ASAP will notify the winners by email and we will also post the winners' names on our website at AfricaSchoolAssistanceProject.org.  
  • ASAP board members, their family members living in the same household, or children of board members are not eligible to win. 
  • Raffle participants are not eligible to win more than one prize.  Should any person win more than one prize, the lower-value prize will be awarded to another ticket holder. 
  • Winners will be posted on http://africaschoolassistanceproject.org for 30 days.  
The official raffle name with the Colorado Secretary of State is the "Africa School Assistance Project Board of Directors Raffle."   Our State of Colorado Raffle license number is 2020-15900.
