The Hearts & Hands Walk/5K Run for Autism and Family Fun Day is our SIGNATURE fundraiser! We depend on our annual Walk/5K to raise funds to continue to provide the FREE and vital services & supports to children, teens adults and their families, as they face the everyday challenges of living with Autism Spectrum Disorders. When you support CAR, you can rest assured that all of the money raised stays local & will help improve the lives of people living with Autism, their families and their communities!
The safety of our families, sponsors, staff, volunteers and vendors are our number one priority. With that said, we've had to make a very difficult but necessary decision to host our 17th Annual Hearts & Hands Walk/5K for Autism, virtually.
During these difficult times, we are still here! We are still supporting individuals with ASD & their families. We are coming up with new, creative ways to host courses, clinics, fun activities and events We have continued to provide our services and supports virtually, as well as design and develop resources related to COVID-19 such as social stories, videos, visual systems and so much more! We’ve created fun weekly interactive activities such as Make it Monday, Try it Tuesday and Find it Friday, which have been archived on our website to give individuals and families a break from remote learning and telehealth, as well as the flexibility to participate at a time that is convenient for them! We’ve hosted a series of online paint events, virtual Zoo Keeper chats, Sip & Chat events for caregivers and Fun Friday events for teens and adults with ASD! In addition, the Gottschall Access Program (GAP), a 3-year Certificate Program at Bristol Community College and Peers® For Young Adults Social Skills Group for Young Adults with ASD, have continued to take place remotely during this time. We encourage you to check our website and Facebook page for complete details on all that we have been doing!
We are looking to our community for their support. As you may know, we have had to cancel all of our fundraising events to date and most of our third party fundraising events. This has had a tremendous impact on our fundraising efforts. We need your support more now than ever! We invite you to join us in supporting individuals with ASD & their families for a fun filled day as well as getting out for a walk or run in your community to support the work of Community Autism Resources!
