The Prizes

  • Authenticated Autograph Caricature Picture and Stats of Cleo Littleton

    Born: December 31, 1932 – Rentisville, Oklahoma

Graduated: Wichita East High School, 1951; Wichita University, 1955

    Overview

The cornerstone of Wichita State University’s first venture into national prominence in college basketball, Cleo Littleton was one of a kind. He was the first college player west of the Mississippi River to score more than 2,000 points in a career and finished with 2,164, which still ranked No. 1 all-time 50 years after he left WSU.

    High School Highlights

Littleton spent his high school (Wichita East) and college career at Wichita State, playing for the legendary coach Ralph Miller. He helped lead Wichita East to the 1951 Class AA state championship over Newton and played in 184 consecutive games from his sophomore year in high school to his senior season at Wichita State.

    College Career

Littleton’s uniform number – No. 13 – is one of only five retired by the Shocker basketball program. But, Littleton has said many times, his proudest achievement and most important contribution to Shocker basketball was breaking the unofficial color barrier in the Missouri Valley Conference. He remains the only men’s basketball player in Valley history to be named first-team all-conference four times. During the 1953-54 season, Littleton led the Shockers to a 27-4 record and the team’s first-ever berth in the National Invitational Tournament.

    Professional Life

Littleton was drafted by the Fort Wayne Pistons of the NBA in 1955, but on the advice of Miller, Littleton opted to play in Wichita with the Vickers AAU team and begin what would become a life-long career in baking, oil and construction.

  • Authenticated Autograph Picture of Dave "The Rave" Stallworth

    Stallworth, Dave

    Born: December 20, 1941Graduated: James Madison H.S. (Dallas, Texas), 1961; Wichita State University, 1965Deceased: March 16, 2017

    Overview

They called him “Dave the Rave” and Wichita State University basketball followers are still raving about the school’s first consensus All-American, Dave Stallworth.

    Playing at WSU

The 6’-7” Stallworth led the Shockers to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1964 and the first number-one national ranking in school history. When the two-time All-American graduated, he held 18 school records even though he only played three seasons. His career scoring average of 24.2 points per game still stands as the WSU record. In what some consider his greatest performance, he scored the last seven points in WSU’s game against top-ranked Cincinnati, leading the Shockers to a 65-64 victory. Stallworth finished the game with a school record 46 points. The next year against Cincinnati, Stallworth scored four straight points, made a steal and had an assist in the last 29 seconds to boost Wichita to a 62-59 win. He scored a total of 95 points in his last two games before his eligibility expired in January of 1965. Stallworth was the first Shocker to have his jersey retired by WSU.

    NBA Career

A first-round draft pick of the New York Knicks, Stallworth played with three NBA teams during his 10-year career and was a member of the 1969-70 Knicks team that won the NBA title.
