We are a volunteer group with the Louisiana SPCA which formed in 2003 to help the shelter increase its adoptions by hosting adoption events in our community. 
In doing this work we experienced the heartbreak of dogs being rejected for adoption because they were heartworm positive. Heartworm disease is scary and treating this disease is expensive. Many potential adopters weren't able to pay for the treatment.
In 2007, we decided to do something about this and started fundraising to pay for the treatment of any heartworm positive dog who is adopted from our shelter.
Our group has raised thousands of dollars for this cause and has helped hundreds of HW+ dogs get adopted with the assurance that their new pet parents will not incur the expense of this treatment.
The Rodrigue's print is valued at $500 and is stamped by his estate. The winner will also receive a $200 gift card that they can choose to use toward framing this print.
