ISAPN PAC - POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE
We are a political committee, governed by APRNs, organized for the purpose of raising and spending money to elect and defeat candidates that support our goals.
Why is this important?
- Legislators introduce bills.
- Legislators vote on bills.
- Legislators gain support or opposition to bills with their colleagues.
- Legislators hold positions on general assembly committees that have the power to move or “kill” bills.
So, what do contributions do?
- Contributions help establish relationships with those legislators. We get “in front” of legislators at fundraisers, in their offices, and at the Capitol.
- Relationships give us the opportunity to educate legislators about APRN issues and serve as experts on health care.
- Remember, APRNs and patients, alike, are constituents of these legislators.
State legislators are elected by constituents. Thus, we need to have strong relationships with state legislators.
REMEMBER - "When we are not at the table, we are on the menu!" Being able to give contributions to legislators who support APRN issues keeps us at the table!
