Yesterday I went to the memorial service for my friend Rose.

I have known Rose (Aunty Rosie/Roz) for over 20 years and can honestly say that I have never meet anyone like her- she was simply not of this world.
She was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunty, guardian angel, friend and mother figure. She was also Stolen from her family as her mother was before her and her own children since.

I obviously knew the impact she has had on me and it was very special to hear what she meant to others in the Kings Cross community, but it was gut wrenching to hear her family speak about not having her in their lives as a direct result of being stolen. The intergenerational trauma and separation that is still impacting Rose's and so many thousands of other families is heartbreaking and a blight on this country.

I am running a raffle this week with all proceeds going to The Healing Foundation. The Healing Foundation is a national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation that partners with communities to address the ongoing trauma caused by actions like the forced removal of children from their families.
