Update,  11/23/2025 2000+ Tickets sold and they are going fast! Thanks everyone !!!
Here we go again! Its time for the Texas Barnstorming Museums  4th annual raffle, and once again we are giving away a beautiful 1946 Piper J-3 Cub, and an hour of flight instruction in our PT-17 Stearman Biplane "Rowdy" for the second place winner!
The Texas Barnstorming Museum was founded in 2016 with a single mission... to expose area youth to Aviation, and hopefully have them enter into an exciting career path they hadn't previously considered.  Our kids experience Aviation firsthand by being given the opportunity to fly and get their license in one of our J3 Cubs, or to become an aircraft mechanic by apprenticing in our shop and taking classes we teach at our local High Schools Aviation program! The High School class is currently completely rebuilding another 1946 J3 Cub, so they know the "ins and outs" of the very airplane they're learning to fly in! Once the kids "outgrow" us and head off to college, we support their aviation training through scholarships with funds earned through fundraisers and raffles, like this one.  There's a list and pictures of our past winners, so be sure to check that out on our website  www.whereolddogsfly.org
Has it worked? You betcha! So far we have had 7 local kids become professional pilots that took their first flight lessons right here... with 12 more in the program right now! That's not bad for a little town of 2600 folks in the middle of South Central Texas.
There's lots more information about us, our students and the airplane on our website, so be sure to check that out!  We are a registered 501c(3) non profit with no paid employees, and all the funds raised go to support the museum operations and scholarship funds.  Raffle ends and we will draw the lucky winner 3/21/2026 OR the sale of 3500 tickets, WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST. Please see or website (www.whereolddogsfly.org) for complete details and pictures of the past winners!

The Prizes

  • 1946 Piper J3 Cub 100 HP

This beautiful cub combines beauty and unbelievable performance with the Continental O-200 engine. two 12 gallon wing tanks, sealed struts, Cleveland wheels and brakes, shoulder harnesses and the improved trim system and slick magnetos. It's been flown and lovingly cared for by the museum since 2021, but now with the High School class's Cub nearing completion, we just don't have the hangar space to house 3 cubs! 1430 SMOH (Time might increase slightly, as we will fly it to local shows and events to promote the raffle, but not very much). The Cub was disassembled and restored in 1992, and looks as good as the day it was completed. Logs begin in 1961, and the engine logs since new.  All documentation is correct, modifications are well documented and STC/DER approved as required. Awarded with a fresh annual. Cash value of the airplane is $55,000. Cash option is $25000. Winner is, as with all raffles, responsible for taxes. We can arrange for tailwheel checkout and ferry to the lucky winner!
