Butler Outdoor Adventures is hosting a raffle for 4 spots on a fully guided duck hunt on Sunday, December 20th to help support the Stokes family. The lead guide for this hunt will be Jace Watson who runs the Round Lake Ranch near Gun Barrel City, Texas. Jace Watson is an excellent guide who has been hunting ducks in that region since he was old enough to hold a shotgun. If your name is drawn for this hunt and you want your son/daughter to hunt in your place that is just fine because Jace will be able to accommodate up to 8 people during this trip, but only 4 hunters. This hunting trip will include shotgun rental and steel shot shells.
Sgt. John Stokes passed away suddenly, November 29, 2020 due to a non-COVID medical episode. John leaves behind his wife Heidi and five adult children.
Sgt. Stokes had a long career in law enforcement, starting with Orange County California Sheriff’s department in 1986. In 1999, he began working with the Southlake Police Department, being promoted from officer to corporal to sergeant during his time with the department. Sgt. Stokes had most recently served as the School Resource Officer supervisor for Carroll ISD schools.
During his time with Southlake police, he was honored with five commendations and was named the Southlake Police Department 2018 Supervisor of the Year.
“John was a beloved member of our police family and will be sorely missed by his co-workers and the community,” said Police Chief James Brandon. “John had a long law enforcement career, but our School Resource Officer Program’s leadership is a great example of the heart that he had for protecting others. We extend our condolences to the Stokes family and offer our prayers during this difficult time.”
The Stokes family has suffered many obstacles over the last few years with Heidi being diagnosed with cancer in multiple areas of her body.
All proceeds from this raffle will be given directly to Stokes’ family.
