In late 2015, I was laying on the side of the road in bad shape. A Good Samaritan stopped, saw I was still alive and picked me up. She cared for me as best she could for an entire year until she decided I needed medical help that she couldn’t provide - so we went to this place called Sun Cities 4 Paws. 
X-rays were taken….the results showed that I had over 20 BBs riddled throughout my body. Thank goodness that most of them missed my vital organs, but they found BBs in my head and sinus cavities too!

The vet said, “This little girl is going to need several surgeries to get her healthy again.” So that’s what they did. I had a total of three surgeries in 2016 and 2017. I even lost my eye in one of the surgeries! Also, not all of the BBs could be removed, so that meant I would need regular monitoring to make sure they weren’t moving around inside my body. That means costly X-rays on a regular basis.

To pay for all of this, Sun Cities 4 Paws reached out to the public to ask for financial support to cover my medical expenses. The response was heartwarming as donation after donation came in from all over!
With the surgeries behind me, I now have adapted well to life with one eye, and am living with a loving family in Peoria. Sun Cities 4 Paws continues to provide for my medical care, including yearly (or more often) full body X-rays to monitor the possible BB movement.

They even named the fund after me - the ‘LUCKY FUND' and decided to continue it as a means to help defray the high medical costs for other cats and kittens that come to them with serious injuries and/or medical conditions. This may include specialists, diagnostic procedures, surgeries, and medications.
To date the Lucky Fund has helped numerous cats with various surgeries and medical diagnostics in an effort to provide them quality of life and a chance to live in a loving home.

In 2020 alone, Sun Cities 4 Paws spent $8000 from the Lucky Fund for various high cost procedures and fundraised to help replenish the fund.
