Queen of Hearts 50/50 Raffle Rules of the Game
All Proceeds to Benefit the Greater Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce AK Permit #115
- “The Queen of Hearts” is a licensed weekly progressive raffle. 54 playing cards including two jokers are placed face down on a mounting board, the cards are numbered one (1) through fifty two (52) and are sealed to the board. Ketchikan Chamber staff, employees and volunteers had no part in the card placement or securing the cards on the board.
- Once a card is selected; it will be turned over with the card face up on the board. If the Queen of Hearts is not selected the game will rollover to the next week. After the drawing, all tickets for that week’s drawing will be placed in a sealed envelope.
- The total prize pool will continue to accumulate weekly until the QUEEN OF HEARTS is drawn. The jackpot amount, based on ticket sales, will be updated and displayed at the Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce office. Updates will also be posted in the Chamber newsletter each week, on the Chamber’s website, and on Facebook. A projected amount will be posted on weekly forms used for reference based off of the following week’s sales.
- The first drawing will be Friday January 26th, 2024 at 11;00 AM pm on Facebook. Only 1 ticket will be drawn each week. Winner need not be present. Thereafter, the drawing will be each Friday at 12:00 pm On Facebook (unless otherwise posted). When the drawing falls on a holiday, we will freeze the drawing until the following Friday.
- Tickets are $5.00, and you can buy as many as you wish. Tickets can be purchased immediately after the drawing up to the time of the next drawing at ketchikanchamber.com and through our custom link. There can be only one name per ticket. Provide your name, telephone number. The cap for this raffle will be a $100,000 pot, with a maximum payout of $50,000 going to the winner.
- If a person does not put a number and/or name on their ticket, it is an automatic rollover and no money is distributed. If a ticket is pulled we have made 3 attempts to contact the winner prior to 12 pm and they do not answer the phone number given, it is an automatic rollover and no money is distributed.
- Should this raffle go the full 52 weeks and when we pull the last ticket and we are unable to contact the ticket holder we will pull another ticket until such time as we can make contact with a ticket holder.
- The ticket holder who selects the Queen of Hearts is the Grand Prize Winner and will be paid 50% of the pot. The other 50% will go to the Greater Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce.
- If a prize greater than $600.00 is awarded; the winner will need to confirm their identity and SSN by completing and signing an IRS Form, W-2G. In addition, the IRS requires a withholding of 24% of the winnings less the amount of the wager if the prize is more than $5,000.00. Winnings will not be distributed until the winner presents 2 valid forms of identification.
- If a player is unwilling or unable to provide any of the listed items, the prize money will revert to the Chamber. A winner cannot donate the prize without first taking ownership of the prize, which means the appropriate W-2G must be issued and the appropriate withholding taken. If a winner then wants to donate their prize he/she can do so.
- Tickets will be available for purchase at ketchikanchamber.com Ticket sales will END at 11 am every Friday.
- If you do not agree with the rules of this game at this venue, there is no obligation to play. Winner need not to be present for the Grand Prize.
- Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce volunteers, and committee are eligible to participate and collect the prize money if they select the Queen of Hearts.
- **The Queen of Hearts Committee reserves the right to amend these rules as needed prior to any week’s drawing. ALL PROCEEDS OF THIS RAFFLE WILL BENEFIT THE GREATER KETCHIKAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
- “Your purchase of this Raffle ticket is subject to the Raffle Rules which are posted here and at ketchikanchamber.com, effective as of the date of purchase and hereby incorporated in full by this reference. If you disagree with any of the Official Rules, you must request a refund of your purchase of the Raffle ticket within twenty-four hours of its purchase in order to be eligible to receive a refund of the purchase price; provided, however, that if you do not return the Raffle ticket within such twenty-four hour period, then you acknowledge and agree that: (i) you have read and understood the Official Rules; (ii) you agree to all of the Official Rules; and (iii) you will be irrevocably bound under the Official Rules. A copy of the Official Rules will be provided via U.S. Mail or electronic message upon written request.”
