Grandma’s benefits have been cut and she is suffering from hunger.
Imagine you received this text message from your family. What would you think? What questions would you ask? What would you do to help?
This is the new, alarming reality for low-income seniors in Clermont County. You see, during the Pandemic, the average SNAP benefit amount for a senior was $234 per month, which helped them to offset the effects of inflation and supply chain interruptions. The pandemic SNAP program ended on 2/28/23 and their benefits were cut, dropping the average amount to just $28 per month. $28! What can you buy from the grocery store for $28 per month? There is zero relief from inflation, and they have scarce resources available to them, which has left many seniors food-insecure and at risk of malnourishment.
Food Network Angels is overwhelmed by both the need and the opportunity presented to make heroic-level impact through organized collaboration with outstanding partners! We would be so honored to have you join our collaboration by participating in our firearm raffle.
