Rotary Duck Race Social Media Post 2025.png823.32 KBEach Fourth of July, Ketchikan, Alaska, celebrates with the First City Rotary’s Annual Duck Race—a cherished tradition since 1988. Thousands of rubber ducks are released into Ketchikan Creek, racing toward the finish line at the Stedman Street Bridge. Participants adopt ducks for $10 each, vying for cash prizes ranging from $50 to $2,500. Beyond the excitement, the event serves as the club’s only fundraiser, supporting local initiatives such as youth scholarships, community projects, and, notably, for 2025 the creation of a Pawrents Pavilion at the Schoenbar Dog Park. Festivities also include a free root beer float stand near the museum parking lot starting at 4 PM, culminating in the race at 5 PM. This blend of fun and philanthropy exemplifies Ketchikan's community spirit. Everyone’s a winner when you support the First City Rotary 4th of July Duck Race!
