Our Man, Paco, lives in Bend, Oregon with his lovely wife and two children. He's been working at Pine Mountain Sports since 2001 and many people in our community know him from his many years of helping them find their perfect bike or ski setup! He's an active guy that works an active job at an outdoor gear shop and so this recent medical issue has taken a toll on him physically and financially...
Paco had surgery this July to remove a growth from his spinal cord. The surgery was mostly successful and he's recovering well but there are still some remnants along his spinal cord. These are not a candidate for another operation because of their location and the potential side-effects. The solution is to follow a 6-week proton radiation treatment that he just started in Seattle which has him currently staying there until the end of December.
Paco's friends and co-workers are raffling off a pair of Rocky Mountain Underground skis to raise a few bucks to cover a fraction of his medical expenses and 6+ weeks of missed work. For 2022 it's got a brand new construction from RMU which decreases weight by about 5% from previous versions while further reducing any unwanted carbon characteristics such as over-stiff and chattery feel.
