Kailyn of Big Heart Crafts & Designs has survived 3 open heart surgeries all before 16 months.  She was born with HLHS (hypoplastic left heart syndrome).  She is living with 2 chambers of her heart working, living with half a heart.  She may have half a heart but she is full of life!!! 

Kailyn is using her love of crafts to give back and raise money for Nemours Children's Hospital, Cardiac Unit in Wilmington, DE where Kailyn receives her cardiology care. 

Kailyn not only loves crafting and creating, but she is also a 15-year-old honors student and a varsity cheerleader.  She's an amazing role model to her younger sisters.  

 

Big Heart Crafts & Designs will be holding its first annual auction in celebration of Cardiac Awareness Month.  Kailyn will be auctioning off her first shadow box.  This project is extra special because Kailyn’s journey embodies the true spirit of a Heart Warrior.  The flowers represent the 3 open heart surgeries Kailyn underwent before the age of 18 months, with the heart symbolizing strength and perseverance. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington Delaware, which is where Kailyn receives her cardiac care.  Last year, Kailyn raised over $50 to donate.  This year, her goal is to raise 3x that amount and donate at least $150.
