PAWS Adoption Center is a 501C3 non-profit no-kill shelter in Monroe, OH. We have been around for over 40 years and are privately run with no government funding. Our mission is to be able to help homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals through donation and fundraising. All of our animals are spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated before rehoming! We pull animals from high kill shelters that would be euthanized because no one adopted them up and help senior dogs that have been left behind because their families just don't have the time anymore! We work to bring quality of life back to these abandoned dogs and cats, and adopt them out to homes that will love and care for them for rest of their days! An example of our great work comes from Grace.

Grace's story:

Grace has been with us at PAWS since late July 2021 and we are working to place her in a forever home. She is a 7-9 year old Great Pyrenees mix.  Grace is a very sweet girl who loves to take naps and take any attention you will give her.

Grace came to us from another animal shelter. PAWS took her in when we were emailed about her sad situation. We do not know much about her past, but she is lucky to have made it to the loving staff and loyal volunteers at PAWS. She seems to have had some skin complications, where the hair is now growing back, as well as a nasty ear infection. We found these out after she arrived at our facility.

Grace when she was first rescued

Though we have little information on her past, we do know that her previous owners kept her in a small yard, where she seems to have spent most of her life. The old owners sold their home, and when the new owners moved in, she had been left in the yard. The rescuers believed she was never really cared for and that her ear infection had been going on for a long time.

Potential adopters will need to help her strengthen her muscles for her unsteady hips and joints, keep her moving, and give her endless love. She impresses us with her improvement every day, but we feel that some one-on-one time with a family will help her progress in a positive way even quicker.
A happier Grace
As you can imagine, it takes a lot to care for Grace and other animals like her with vetting, food, medicines, and keeping the lights on!! We are a small staff of 8 and appreciate all the support we can get. With the help of volunteers, we can house up to 50 animals. We are asking you to help us to continue our work. Please enter our raffle and take a chance of winning one of these awesome bottles of bourbon and know your donation has help save an animal!
