Sweet Bean Bakery is one year old! We have grown exponentially and big dreams for the future. This last year has given us a taste of possibility and has shown us that the community wants more delicious vegan options. This raffle fundraiser is a way for our community to get involved and stoked with our growth. The raffle includes a diverse assortment of prizes from local makers, creators and facilitators: from life coach and yoga bundles to queer love watercolors and handmade jewelry and micro bakery delights. We hope including these exclusive and specially curated items is a reflection of our values as a business: community oriented, importance of self care and healing as well as compassion for the planet and animals.
Sweet Bean Bakery is an up and coming queer owned, small vegan pastry business operated out of a shared commercial kitchen in Santa Cruz. Sweet Bean was created by Julia Daniel. Julia started Sweet Bean Bakery in the summer of 2020 with the desire to provide delicious seasonal and traditional pastries that happen to be vegan. Julia strives to facilitate that wholesome coffee shop experience: walking into your favorite coffee shop to work on an essay or catching up with an old friend, oat cappuccino in hand and pastry crumbs on your cheek. Sweet Bean wanted to create a product for everyone, vegans and non-vegans alike, that could conjure such an everyday delight.
Sweet Bean Bakery emphasizes:
Seasonality
Locally sourced fruits and vegetables
Ethically sourced spices
Organic staple ingredients such as sugar, flour, vegan butter
Community collaboration
Energetic sustainability as a business model (rest and joy are important)
The funds generated from this one year celebration raffle will be put to use in expanding our production which we hope will facilitate our journey to building a brick and mortar of our own.
