Green Beret Foundation, in partnership with a U.S. Army Special Forces veteran owned distillery, presents Whiskey & War Stories, a memorable evening private event series featuring a renowned veteran-owned distillery and stories from U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers who served and sacrificed the entirety of the 20-year war in Afghanistan.

In appreciation for your attendance at Whiskey & War Stories - Nashville, please enter this raffle for the opportunity to win the America’s Response Memorial statue or “Horse Soldier” statue which depicts a Green Beret operator from the 5th Special Forces Group memorializing Task Force Dagger, its organizational elements and its combined Special Forces teams. Task Force Dagger Green Berets were the first ones into Afghanistan following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Task Force Dagger, the Joint Special Operations team consisting of Green Berets from the 5th Special Forces Group, aircrew members from the “Nightstalkers”, the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment and Air Force Special Operations aircrew, combat controllers, and joint terminal air controllers worked closely with the Central Intelligence Agency and other Government Agencies to accomplish this daunting task.

Task Force Dagger received a Presidential Unit Citation recognizing its personnel and units for their valorous and historic actions in spearheading the liberation of Afghanistan. This legendary unit and these exceptional warriors are now honored at Ground Zero, a monument to America’s response.

The Prize

  • The Horse Soldier Statue

"De Oppresso Liber" is the Green Berets' motto. Early in 2002, after seeing the first released images of the "horse soldiers," Douwe Blumberg began sculpting this piece. He was fascinated by the visual imagery as well as the symbolism of a 21st century western soldier working symbiotically with an ancient eastern mountain horse to combat tyranny and oppression. Close collaboration with the actual "horse soldiers" ensured the accuracy of the piece.
